The first painting I remember seeing was Nighthawks. It was in an encyclopedia. I would sit on the floor next to the bookshelt and pull the A book down. Nighthawks was one of the classics in that book.
Art should be evocative. It should make you feel something. Happy, sad, distraught, uneasy, blissful. I also think it can bring things together that don’t belong. I like to mix alcohol inks with canvases and acrylic — something everybody says don’t do. I also see opposites in my artwork. Desert reefs and acrylic oxidation are two of the examples.
